This versatile e-bike is at home on the road or off-road, and recharges while you are riding it, thanks to its solar battery pack.

It comes from Toronto, Canada-based Daymak, which also developed the removable solar battery pack. The 60-V 12-AH lithium battery allows for a range of 24 miles (40 km). The 15 W-hr solar panels can provide 6.2 miles (10 km) of range for every 8 hours they are exposed to the sun. The solar battery pack is removable and has two USB ports, and can thus be used for recharging mobile devices or as a back-up generator.

The Beast has an alloy frame and weighs only 121 lbs. (55 kg). The 500 W (0.67 hp) electric motor propels it to a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h). Hydraulic disc brakes and 8 inch-thick tires make it safe on all terrains. A smart phone application and Bluetooth connectivity allow the user to get information on speed, battery level, distance, etc.

Daymak claims that the Beast will be available this summer, but also announces a Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds… Once available, the Beast will cost C$3,400 (US$3,200). A cheaper version with a steel frame and a lead-acid battery is also planned at C$1,299 (US$1,200).
