The Bultaco Brinco
Bultaco has presented the Brinco (Spanish for Leap), an electric two-wheeler that is a cross between a bicycle and a motorcycle.
The Brinco has an aluminum frame and weighs 33 kg (73lbs), including its 7 kg (15.5lbs), 1 kWh removable lithium battery. The 2 kW hub motor (3 kW peak power) delivers 60 Nm, good for a top speed of over 60 km/h (37 mph). The battery can be recharged in two hours using a regular outlet.
When combined with pedaling, the Brinco has a range of 100 km (62 miles), or 30 km (19 miles) when only the electric motor is being used. The regular chain-drive comes with a 9-speed transmission.
Bluetooth connectivity allows any rider with an iOS or Android phone to keep track of energy consumption, speed and battery status.
Deliveries will start in April 2015, and pre-ordering is available on Bultaco’s web site. The first 175 units will be of a limited edition and priced at €4,800 ($5,963).
