Electric off-roads: the beginning of a choice
Choices for electric motorcycles are still limited, but they are slowly increasing, especially in Europe.
Brammo, Zero and Lito’s Sora are all available in the US and in Europe. When it comes to street-legal off-road electric bikes, Europeans have a choice between KTM, Tacita and Zero’s FX.
The new Redshift models from Alta Motors (the new name of what used to be called BRD) will be available in the US in the spring of 2015, and soon thereafter in Europe because one of the new investor in Alta is European.
That means that Europeans will then have a choice between these four electric off-roads:
The FX and the Tacita probably don’t have much in common, but one can wonder about the price difference. The Alta and KTM are more evenly matched, and should make for some interesting comparative tests. The Tacita is closer to a racing bike.
But these differences are good for the electric motorcycle market; they broaden the choices and give us an idea of things to come.
