This foldable electric scooter was developed in Estonia and will be produced in France. The first ones should be available in the spring of 2015.
Stigo claims to be the fastest-folding electric scooter that can be taken along wherever one goes, as it folds into a golf bag-sized item. The idea is to be able to take it to the office, store or restaurant and recharge it at home. It only weighs 30 lbs. (13.5 kg), and its 250W hub motor is good for a top speed is 15.5 mph (25km/h). The standard 36V LiFePO4 battery allows for a 12.4 miles range (20 km), with a 24.8 mile-range (40 km) battery option available.
Stigo is based in Estonia, but this e-scooter will be produced by the French racing-car manufacturer Cabsicum. Price has been set at 1,490 euros ($2,070), and Stigo intends to make 8,000 of them in 2015. The firm has recently been encouraged by the attribution of the “Electricity and Smart Living” Award (along with 50,000 euros) from the French electric utility giant EDF.
The category of folding e-scooter is starting to have a lot of very creative entrants, and it will be interesting to see if this market develops.
