The spectacular electric Sora is coming
Production has started for the first Canadian electric motorcycle, the Sora, by Lito Green Motion, based in Longueuil, Quebec.
And its specs are as spectacular as its looks: an aluminum chassis, carbon fiber fairing, integrated GPS and touch screen mounted on the tank, electrically adjustable seat and a top speed of 118 mph. Power comes from a 3-phase AC motor, fed by a 12 kWh lithium-polymer battery and producing 90 nM (66.37 ft-lb) of torque. The battery recharges in 9 hours via a level 2 connection (J1772).
The power management system allows for 3 different modes — normal, safe range and performance. The safe range mode manages the amount of energy used to guaranty reaching a destination entered into the onboard computer. The bike weighs in at 573 lbs., and its range varies from 62 miles to 124 miles, depending on city or highway driving. Transmission is through a CVT system, with a final belt drive.
Lito Green Motion claims to have signed up dealers in Montreal, Miami, Paris and Berlin. The price? A cool $42,000, at today’s exchange rate…
It looks very expensive for that specs (42000$)!
A Mission R do a lot more for nearly the same price with 17kWh pack version (42500$), and even with “cheaper” 12kWh version (32500$).
Sora 12kWh : 118mph; 124 miles; 66ft-lb; 573lbs
Mission R 12kWh : 140mph; 105 miles; 120 ft-lb; 490lbs
Mission R 17kWh : 150mph; 140 miles; 120ft-lb; 540lbs
I tend to agree with you, but the 2 bikes are very different:one is a sports bike, the other is a cruiser type of bike. So I don’t think they have the same kind of customer.
I like the design except the rear of the bike that I find ugly.
I like the rear of the bike
